Luke 12:22. And he said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on.

Worry is a thief of joy. It is the constant thinking about what you cannot change. It has a destructive effect on your spiritual life as well as your health. Although it is culturally accepted to be “concerned” about many things, it is a sin against God when you are too concerned about things you cannot change.

Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her (Luke 10:41).

Those who worry can worry about anything, just anything. They worry about food, money, life, death and just about anything. Worry is not a virtue, it is a thief. It is an enemy of your soul that must not survive another day. Worry is a silent declaration that God is weak. It is faithlessness in action. Martha was a master at it but Jesus corrected her.

Do you want to be happy? Stop worrying. Do you want to see miracles happen in your life? Stop worrying and start trusting the Word of God. Worry cannot produce any good. When next you are tempted to worry, pause and ask, “what can I do about this situation?” If there is nothing, then relax!

Instead of worry, do this,
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:6-7).
