By the Spirit

So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of hosts (Zech.4.6).

Each time God seeks to let people know that it is not by power or might but by His spirit, the aim is to get them think more of what He can do for them effortlessly than what they can achieve on their own. We often rely on our ability, connections and prowess forgetting that if we don’t have life in the first place, nothing would have been possible. God aims to get us trusting His undeniable grace and strength with which we can move mountains.

Does that means you will not do anything because he has promised to help you? No! It means you will not rely on your own strength. Paul said he laboured more than some Brethren but it was the grace of God at work in him. Grace doesn’t make you lazy, it means you receive help to do more than you can achieve on your own. However, the understanding that whatever you accomplish is not by your strength is key. This helps in making divine help available while giving the glory back to God.

For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, “Fear not, I will help you.’ (Isa.41.13)

Blessed is the person who has God as helper. God does not abandon people midway. He is a finisher. He is the author and finisher of our faith. He delivers on promise with nothing missing. It is your responsibility to give God access in your affairs to help you. He is faithful!
