Dependable God

And God spoke to Moses and said to him: “I am the LORD (Exod.6.2).

One of the attributes of God that makes Him trust worthy, is that He doesn’t change. He is dependable just as ever. He has never introduced Himself as the “I Was” because He remains the “I am that I am”. This is sometimes difficult for people to understand because they change in their experiences, sometimes for the best and sometimes otherwise. Hence, the idea of a perfect, consistent being that loves you years past, and still loves you, irrespective of your inconsistencies could be confusing. However, God is always dependable.

What then could you do to enjoy this attribute despite the ups and downs of life? Building a relationship requires understanding commitment to the other party. You have to let the word of God prove to you how dependable He has been all through the ages. You then put your trust in Him, knowing that He has never failed in times past, so you’re safe in his hands. Then proceed to trust Him unreservedly. Until you can relinquish all to Him, you may only just read about this attribute but may not experience it.

“For I am the LORD, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob (Mal.3.6).

Perhaps the descendants of Jacob felt their father was good or they were smart but God said they have only survived thus far because He, God has not changed. In other words, He has been faithful to keep His covenant with Jacob in preserving His seeds. There are fears in the heart of the people about many things but there is someone that is dependable to keep you amidst evil and all forms of instabilities. Speak to Him and He will listen to you. He is God Almighty. Amen.
