WORSHIP
Luke.4.8 – And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, “You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.”
Worship is an act of reverence accorded to a higher being. When such reverence is accorded a fellow human or anything, it is idolatry and God hates that, so He warns us against it. Do you have an idol? What do you Accord your utmost reverence?
The God we serve is a jealous God. He doesn’t want to share you with anyone so His instruction is that we worship no other god but Him. Many people consciously will not worship another god but they have idols.
In practical terms, some would do anything for money, others are driven by fame, yet some live for their name. Whatever gives you satisfaction and commands your reverence outside the Almighty God, has stolen your heart from Him.
The deception of seeking after the things that cannot satisfy is usually revealed when those things fail in the days of need. That which you give your time and attention to should be worthwhile. Idols of the heart cannot help in the times of need.
Obey the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. Remember the great things he has done for you. (1 Samuel 12:24).
