DISTRACTION
Neh.6.3 – So I sent messengers to them, saying, “I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down. Why should the work cease while I leave it and go down to you?”
Distraction is a major enemy many people underrate. Nehemiah was rebuilding the temple but his enemies asked to see him while he was working. He declined. Distraction is closer than you can ever imagine.
While the enemy may not attack you, he may set up distraction to derail you. It is good to know where you are heading in life. Better still, to follow divine instructions without wavering. Some of the ways distractions come include slander, insult, jeering, contempt and sometimes through praises. People’s praises can derail you if you’re not careful.
The devil fears a life that is focused. A person on a genuine mission undistracted is a terror to the enemy. Focus is a major antidote to distraction. Must you respond to critics? Do you have to defend yourself? Are you too big to be insulted? At the end of every quarrel is a major distraction not foreseen.
Every great life will be confronted with distraction at one time or the other but as David said, “I have set the LORD always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved”(Ps.16.8).
While you cannot stop distraction from showing up, you can determine to remain focused. ” …looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame…”(Heb.12.2).
