ANGER
Eph. 4:26. “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath…
Anger is one of the emotions God endowed humans with, but it has been misused so much that we see the evil effects all around us. Going by the original design, God’s children can get angry at the things that could make God angry.
But while you are angry, do not sin.
Unfortunately, the devil has hijacked many things and perverted them, including emotions that are not yielded to God. We get angry at people, cuss at them and sometimes cause damage with our words. That is a wrong use of anger.
Is there a way to be angry righteously? Yes! Get angry at sin. Get angry when you see a demon possessed person, so that you cast out the evil spirit. Get angry when you see the sick, so you could heal them. Get angry when you see oppression, injustice and evil. But do not sin in your anger.
Due to the wrong expressions of anger at people, there is a verse of the Bible that addresses that: “Do not be eager in your heart to be angry, For anger resides in the bosom of fools” (Ecc.7:9).
When next you are about to get angry, ask yourself: is it the glory of God at stake or my ego? If it is your ego, remember that, “anger lies in the bossom of fools.”
