HYPOCRICY
Rom.12.9 – Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.
As a little child in the Primary school, we had an elderly man who taught us Bible knowledge. He was fond of the above Scripture and so we named him, “Baba Efesu” (Father Ephesian). Ephesian 6:1 was one of his favorite bible verses.
Another word for a hypocrite is an actor. It is to say something and mean another thing. It is the attitude we put on when we want to be politically correct. It is the desire to tag along when we don’t quite agree with others.
Hypocrisy manifests in different ways.
Sometimes it comes out in outright lying, flattery or exaggeration. It is not a godly trait. It dissipates true love.
Never be afraid of standing for what is right. You don’t have to be loved by everyone. He that stands for nothing will surely fall for everything.
Hear what Jesus said,
What sorrow awaits you who are praised by the crowds, for their ancestors also praised false prophets (Luke 6:26).
Say this with me, “I choose to stand for what is right. I refuse to be an actor. I am authentic because God made me so.” Amen.
Savour with Sola John.
