Divine Vacancy
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” (Isa.6.8)
There was a vacancy in heaven for willing applicants. It was made known to the prophet Isaiah that God had a need for a person who will represent Him. Isaiah embraced the opportunity like a business tycoon would accept loan offer. God knew Isaiah was there but went ahead to advertise the position.
When it comes to working for God, there is no force in that. It has been valued in ages for saints to enrol in the service of God voluntarily. Again, having a desire to be used of God is good but Meeting his requirements is another thing. Isaiah responded so his CV could be examined.
But the LORD said to me: “Do not say, “I am a youth,’ For you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak (Jer.1.7).
While some others are giving excuses for not wanting to be used of God, Isaiah turned himself in for the assignment. It is safe to say that you were created for your assignment. You are only relevant here on earth if God finds you useful. Living to satisfy yourself is not the primary plan of God for you. You were created to give Him pleasure.
Therefore, as you make your plans for the short and long terms, remember you have only one life to live. And if you must make it count, it has to be useful for the kingdom of God. How pliable are you in the hand of God? Are you available for sending? Is God’s plan part of your plans?
Think about it.
