God is faithful!
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it (1Cor.10.13).
The reality of the Christian life is that we will be confronted with challenges of life including the allure to do evil. The urge to do what is against your believe is called temptation. It is the advertisement of things to you to consider, that have no eternal benefits regarding your faith. Sometimes these temptations are overwhelming however, you can rest assured that God is faithful to set boundaries for them.
From the scriptures, temptations could come from the devil or personal desires. The beginning of overcoming is to watch that your heart is set on things above. While the pressure comes from the devil to get you to compromise, God often provides a window of opportunity to escape, like Joseph leaving his garment with a strange woman. The underline wisdom is to be determined not to fall into the temptations. Much more, pray to overcome.
And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen (Matt.6.13).
Jesus’ counsel is that we pray not to fall into temptations. This is instructive. He went through some and could testify that it isn’t an easy thing to go through. Pray that you do not fall into temptation. Then we proceed to ask to be delivered from evil. God is faithful not only to hear out prayers but to deliver us from every evil work. Amen.
