Loving Deeply II
Now John answered Him, saying, “Teacher, we saw someone who does not follow us casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow us.” (Mark.9.38).
Sequel to the part I yesterday, there is need to further explain another reason why believers do not love deeply. It is a case of familiarity. We enjoy so much of God’s grace that we think we have exclusive rights to the love of God. We become relaxed and sometimes judgemental about who should enjoy this grace and who should not. We form Jesus Club.
We see a person who had understanding of the name of Jesus casting out demons in His name, while Jesus followers (club members) couldn’t do that at this time. God loves everyone and can reveal Himself to anyone who seeks Him. Those who choose to respond to God’s love will find Him. Instead of castigating others, take time to love Him more.
Now the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb (John.20.1).
May Magdalene had seven demons cast out of her. Her depth of gratitude knew no bound. She began to shower love on Jesus. She broke her expensive Alabaster box. She was also there early to see the resurrected body of Christ. Meanwhile, the Jesus club members were nowhere to be found doing these great things. The sinners have right to enjoy this love if they repent today. Don’t be angry about that. Be grateful you’re a partaker.
