Loving Deeply
“There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?” Simon answered and said, “I suppose the one whom he forgave more.” And He said to him, “You have rightly judged.” (Luke.7.43).
Our ability to love is directly proportional to our sense of gratitude to the forgiveness we have received. While we received the love of God not because we are worthy but out of His benevolence, we respond to the love based on our sense of gratitude.
To love more is to appreciate the love that was given. To love more is to be committed to the relationship beyond looking back. Whenever you see a relationship that the partners are not giving the required love, you will see a relationship that is about to fail. Same with our Father, we are either giving more to love more or we risk losing all.
You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin (Heb.12.4).
For most people, sin has been a major factor that has caused the distance in their love life with God. However, you can say no to sin to be able to show your deep love to the one who died for you. Can you love more? Yes, you can. To whom much is forgiven, loves much. Amen.
