Maintaining the temple
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
(1Cor.6.19).
Today, we will consider the importance of taking proper care of the body. More than you care for your car or work tools, there is need to take adequate care of your body. Your body is the temple where God resides. It is the vehicle of ministry. You are as strong as your body can carry you. While there is need for the body to be kept holy, there is also need to eat good foods, avoid substances that are dangerous to the body, if you must fulfil all that God has for you.
There is the need to eat well for the body to function maximally in serving as the temple. Food is what the body feeds on but not every food is good for everybody. Understanding how to care for your body requires paying careful attention to the classes of foods, when you eat them and what the body needs as against what it wants. Though Christ spoke about the things that defile the body as not things that are fed through the mouth but many have cut short their lives because of malnutrition. What do you eat? How do you care for your body?
Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are (1Cor.3.16-17).
As it is vital to keep the body Holy, so it is needful to watch the things that enters your mouth. You are what you eat, some say. That is a way of saying that your body is a direct reflection of your food. Eat healthy meals containing all classes of foods helpful to the body. Cut away soda, alcohol and tobacco as they do more damage to your system. Eat sufficient fruits and vegetables. Contact a nutritionist to know more about healthy meals. It is well with you.
