Satan’s Devices
Now whom you forgive anything, I also forgive. For if indeed I have forgiven anything, I have forgiven that one for your sakes in the presence of Christ, lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices (2Cor. 2:10-11).
Paul asserts that “we are not ignorant of Satan’s Devices.” Meaning, we are aware of his tactics, his schemes to get the Brethren to err. We do not pretend not to understand the schemes of the devil, as we don’t take chances, lest he preys on us. The truth is that the devil has no new methods. He has three missions: to steal, to kill and to destroy. He has no better thing to do more than that around here. Unfortunately, he has no new tricks also but the old cunning way he keeps reinventing.
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world (1John.2.15-16).
The devices of the enemy revolves around, “the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life…” Everything that will confront you by way of temptation will be packaged along those lines. There is hardly any new thing outside of these except the repackaging and rebranding. If that is the case, the believer needs to understand his foe, for better strategic warfare. Little wonder, Christ requested that we learn of Him because he defeated Satan and gave us victory. We also triumph always by Him.
Now thanks be unto God, who always causes us to triumph in Christ, and makes manifest the fragrance of his knowledge by us in every place. (2 Corinthians 2:14 ). As we Well learn of Christ, we become obedient to Him and triumph in the name of Jesus.
