The Advocate
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world (1John.2:1-2).
The admonition of John is that we should not sin. Sin is not a friend to the believer. It is an enemy no matter how it disguises itself. It hinders the smooth fellowship between God and the saints. It could numb your spiritual sensitivity if allowed to fester. However, if we sin, we have an advocate with the father who pleads on our behalf. He is the last and only sacrifice for our sins and for the sins of the whole world. Amen.
The believer has power over sin as the Bible says, sin shall not have dominion over you. However, we must avoid carelessness in situations that can lead to sin. The counsel is to flee every appearance of evil. You don’t have to wait to be sure it is evil, once it looks like evil, run away. That you have immunity against a disease shouldn’t be a reason to expose yourself to it. Sin and the believer are on parallel lines that cannot meet.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1John.1.9).
All the provisions have been made to get you back on track even if you err. If you sin, though you are not expected to, you should confess to God to receive forgiveness. He is a faithful. God can keep you till the end, you just give him a chance. He will cleanse you from All unrighteousness. Amen
