The Power of Hearing
He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” (Matt.13.9).
The power of hearing is best used by the Believer. Many listen but few hear. Many hear but few understand. After telling them the parable of the seed, Jesus said, it is left for you, what you’ll do with my words. Sure, many benefited from it and many others did not. What do you do with His words?
Understanding is the result of correct hearing and that can only be ascertained when the fruit of what is heard is seen. The essence of hearing God’s word is not to gain more head knowledge, it is to be transformed. Little wonder Jesus spoke about the percentage of fruit borne by individual hearer. You can hardly bear fruit beyond your understanding of the word you heard.
Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand (Matt.13.13).
God doesn’t want you to be in the dark. He spoke parable only to the people who did not believe in him but for you, He wants you to understand him clearly. This is because obedience becomes difficult without understanding. Fruitfulness is not possible without understanding.
It high time we understood the word, visions, instructions, commands and leadings we are receiving. If not, we are limited in fruitfulness until we understand what we heard. Shalom!
