The Saint’s Virtue

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” (Luke.18.14).

Of all the themes in the Bible, there isn’t anyone as hidden and less celebrated as humility. If there was one virtue that screams yet does not assert itself, it would be humility. It is the compass of the saints to earning attention from the Master. Humility is the acknowledgement that you are nothing on your own without God.

At the Temple, the man who had air around himself found it hard to get the attention of God because he violated a spiritual law. “Blessed are the meek…” is the gold plated law of the possessor of the earth. Once pride is found in you, heaven abhors it like it did when it first appeared in Lucifer. Pride takes its place among the rejected.

Though the LORD is on high, Yet He regards the lowly; But the proud He knows from afar (Ps.138.6)

The disposition of the humble saint commands the attention of the divine authority. God detests the proud but celebrates the humble. Our position is made known by what we think, say or do. What is the state of your heart?
