Understanding Seasons
Of the sons of Issachar who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, their chiefs were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their command (1Chr.12.32).
The times are reflections of the seasons of life. As it is in the physical realm so it is in the spiritual therefore, we can tell by the happenings around what season of life we are, at every moment. There is a season to plant and a season of harvest which is usually known by the time of the year. So it is with our lives. There are seasons and they’re only known by the times.
Therefore, observe when the time is ripe for certain decisions to be taken. Biologically, it is easy to know when certain landmarks are reached e.g. early childhood, adolescence, adulthood, etc. It is also applicable spiritually that the believer can know when it is time and season for certain steps to be taken. The Sons of Issachar knew that through understanding. This calls for deeper reflection. What season are you and what are you supposed to be doing?
Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes (Luke.19.41 -42).
Jesus expressed a concern about people who have no understanding of the time of life and their lack of knowledge. Such can also happen to an individual if care is not taken. Understanding the season requires remembering the words of God to you in the form of visions, prophecies and promises.
As you recall, there is only one thing to say, “be unto me according to your word.” This should lead to obedience in yielding to Instructions. It is by the instructions you’re led into further steps to be taken for the fulfilment of the words spoken over you.
