- What’s Yours?
But God said to him, “Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ (Luke.12.20).
Back in the days, it was said that when armed robbers waylaid a person, they would ask, “your life or your money?” The question was to help them do a quick operation to get whatever they wanted. However, we are always confronted with that question. Even God would ask you, “your life or your money?” Which one belongs to Me? A man made so much harvest that he thought he would enjoy more but God called him a fool and demanded for his life instead of his money.
You would do well to know the difference between material things and your life. Life is the breath in you which does not belong to you. It was given you to live for a specific purpose. You may make profit but to forget what you were created to do just simply because you have material possessions is foolishness. Nobody lives beyond the Creator’s licensed time on earth. Whatever profit you make, remember your life is the most treasured gift God is interested in.
For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? (Mark.8.36).
The struggle for material possessions stops when we compare it to the value of a soul. It is worth far less. The wisdom is not to allow the chase for material things becloud our reasoning so much that we could do anything to get rich. That is evil. Nobody survives strictly on wealth. It is life that births living. Would you rather give your whole attention to making a living or to live purposefully?
Someday soon, our trading period on earth would be gone, then we shall confront the life after death when accounts will be given of our stewardship. What would you choose, your life or your money? What a privilege to decide that right now. Life is what we live while money is what we make. Your life or your money?
