Avoid Compromise
There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death (Prov.14.12).
The secret to daily living is hidden in decisions taken per seconds. It can be easy to slip away by taking decisions that violate your moral codes. Compromise is the acceptance of a standard lower than what is desirable. In this context, a standard lower than God’s word as enshrined in the scriptures. When a comprise is made, there is a mindset that believes things will work out in a particular desired direction. However, the above text states that the end is often destruction.
It is good to know some reasons for accepting lower standards. Most times, it is to a selfish end, either to make a gain or to escape punishment. For whatever reason compromise is made, it is often not worth it. The danger is that, whatever you compromise to get, you will compromise to keep it. And sometimes, it can be too expensive to sustain a lower standard arrived at by compromise. A lot of people might have had expectations for the year but have not seen the fulfilment. This is not the time to change your standard or value for things to happen, it is time to trust God more than ever.
“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth (Rev.3.15-16).
Compromise will bring you to a position of indecision where you are not known for a particular standard. God has issue with that lifestyle and will wish you decide on what you really want. People don’t appreciate it because it confuses them as to your known standard. From all angles, compromise has more disadvantage than merits.
