Mercy Speaks

But go and learn what this means: “I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”(Matt.9.13)

There are about two legitimate ways to get things from people, by favour and by labour. That is you’re either given for free or you work for it. Jesus revealed that God has chosen to have mercy on people instead of them to make sacrifices in order to obtain anything from Him. Mercy is God’s compassion and kindness towards people that deserve judgement. Therefore, making sacrifices of animals can no longer attract God’s attention. He now works in mercy.

The import of this is that, there is no reason not to receive from God. There are people yet to tap into the available mercy. And they are struggling to make sacrifices. Jesus told them to go learn what it means, “I desire mercy and not sacrifice” Understanding this statement will change your life from consistently struggling to be loved and accepted by others, when God has embraced you wholly. You have been chosen to be loved by God.

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him (1John.3.1).

Mercy Speaks for those who have accepted God’s love. They received mercy when they accepted Christ into their lives. Jesus is the face of God’s mercy. Won’t you rather receive mercy than make sacrifices? Say with me, I receive the mercy of God instead of sacrifices. Amen.
