Defend Your Field
… but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way (Matt.13.25).
Jesus gave a parable about the sower that planted good seeds but the enemy came at night to plant weed amongst the good seeds “while men slept.” While it is true that we all need rest, it is also instructive that we must defend our portions.
The enemy planted bad seeds at night season. The challenge is for us to watch out against seeds that are planted in our fields at night seasons. God blessed you with a job and suddenly, you became careless and that earned you a suspension. You have a friend and before you know, some people are speaking against you to your friend.
It behoves on you to defend your portion by watching out against seeds that are growing in the field. Many marriages are on the brink of collapse because the enemy has sown seeds of discord. How do you maintain your portion?
LORD, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure (Psalm. 16:5).
Some ways to defend your portion, keep the rules within God’s word because many have left the giver to chase the gift. Also, never allow anything given to you slip away from your hand untimely. Be vigilant about your blessings. Pay close attention to issues that comes with success and growth. Don’t give the enemy a chance.
But Shammah took his stand in the middle of the field. He defended it and struck the Philistines down, and the LORD brought about a great victory (2 Sam. 23:12).
