Family Matter

I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you…(Luke.15.18).

So much has been said about sin by many preachers, including the condemnation the human conscience receives. We yet examine the story of the prodigal son who wasted his life in the foreign land. Such was the suffering that he ate with the pigs, until the day he made up his mind to return home. No doubt the sense of guilt held him back for too long.

When it comes to a believer walking in disobedience or sin, it is instructive to know that it’s against the Father, his father he has sinned. It isn’t against the devil, the believer sins but against his Father. This understanding helps to quickly return to God in a contrite heart to ask for forgiveness. There should be no delay before repentance (change of mind) is rendered for forgiveness. God is ever forgiving.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1John.1.9).

God is faithful to forgive, not faithful to punish you. If he was faithful to allow Christ died for the unrighteous, He is faithful to deliver the righteous from sin and lawlessness. Any day you’re caught in the web of sin, first step is to repent. Talk to your father. He is ever willing to help you. Waste no time second guessing, God is for you, both against you.
