Loving by the Word

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John.13.34 – 35).

The new commandment is that we love one another but the love nature is impacted into us by the Word. The word trims our excesses to bring us into the understanding of divine love. It empowers us to give love as we have received of the Father. By the word, we see the quality of love the Father has expressed through Christ. This knowledge is a game changer.

It is by the word that we know we have passed from death unto Life. It is by the word we understand that there is translation from darkness into light. It is by the word we see the extent to which Christ went for humanity. It is by the word we understand that if we do not love, we dwell in darkness. We live by the Word. We love by the Word.

He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes (1John.2.10 – 11).

The word is our light and our guide as we seek to experience the love of God and to reveal it to others. We are made to conform to the divine image by the word. Jesus said, “the word I speak to you, they are spirit and life.” Amen.

Make out time to dwell in the word and see the multifaceted grace available through the indwelling word. Like David said, hiding the word in our hearts will deliver us from sin. We love by the Word. Amen.
