Submission
Submitting to one another in the fear of God (Eph.5.21).
Submission is one word that has been demonized in the society today, especially with the usage in marriage context. It is seen as a means of perpetuating male dominance of the female gender. Submission is the yielding of your position to agree with the other party. It is applicable in every sphere of life where there are two or more people working together. It requires submission to have a mutual working relationship. It is a biblical injunction to submit to one another in the fear of the Lord. This is to facilitate the mutual understanding required to work as a team. Submission is a necessity on the path to relevance.
Why are people so sensitive when it comes to the word submission? It is not natural for human beings to submit. In every soul lies rebellion. When the instruction to submit comes, it sounds like a force of dominance is about to invade the soul. However, the secret to greatness lies in humility and there can be no true humility without practicing submission. If you feel too big to submit to another person, you are too small to lead.
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7).
Even in overcoming the devil and his antics, there is need for submission to God. The secret to building great relationships, greatness and authority is submission. It is the antidote to pride. Anytime your heart cringe in respect to yielding your ground in an argument, pride may be loitering around your heart. Beware!
