Why me, Lord?

Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, “But Lord, what about this man?” (John.21.21).

The events prior to this question was Peter receiving instructions from Jesus about how he should feed His sheep. However, Peter saw John passing by without apparent instructions for him, so Peter turned to Jesus to say, “how about this man?” “Why are you focused on only me?” Jesus immediately told him to mind his business and leave John alone. Sometimes, when you see the amount of instructions given to you, the dedications God demands from you, or the expectations of heaven from you, you may want to ask, God, how about my neighbor? But remember, that God has need of YOU.

It is not in your place to query God about other people’s lives. Do not be overtly concerned how God is dealing with your friends or neighbors. It is very important you mind your business when it comes to God’s dealings. And when you see a pattern of consistent demand for consecration or demand for obedience, pay attention because God has a need of you. Rather than focus of what others are not doing, pay attention to areas God is making demands on your life. To a very large extent, the Christian race and calling are personal.

My son, hear the instruction of your father, And do not forsake the law of your mother (Prov.1.8).

The message is clear, hear the instructions of your father and obey. Do you ask your father why your siblings are not busy when he sends you on errand? When God focuses on you in terms of instructions, demands and consecration, it means He has a need of you. That is no time to ask Him questions about others. It is time to simply yield and obey.
